About Negev Nectars
Negev |’ne,gev| (the Negev) an arid region that forms most of southern Israel, between Beersheba and the Gulf of Aqaba, on the Egyptian border. Large areas are irrigated for agriculture and many Israeli communities have been established here.
Negev Nectars serves as a link between small-scale Negev farmers and conscientious consumers. Drawing upon the Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) model, Negev Nectars shareholders receive products from Israel’s desert that are sustainable, high quality, kosher and organically certified when possible.
We believe for foods unattainable locally, it is still possible to have a relationship with your farmer, and to support responsible agricultural practices as a community. Negev Nectars’ mission is to support small-scale, sustainable agriculture in Israel, and to provide a market for these farmers.
Most Israeli agriculture today is very technical, modernized and industrial, relying on highly unstustainable practices of farming and harvesting. We are working to change that.
Supporting Israeli Organic Agriculture
Our hope by providing a supportive market for these organic growers is to influence other farmers in the region, so that soon more Israeli land will be farmed responsibly. For now we believe in supporting the great, forward-thinking farmers.
