A.S.H.B.A. Farms Herbs
Shlomo Azulay, Ramat Hanegev
Shlomo started A.S.H.B.A Farms after the Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, when Shlomo had to close down his organic operation on the shores of the Mediterranean. He immediately bought land in the desert and restarted his life and continues to farm organically, though now in the Negev. Shlomo, a charming and very lively grower, prides himself on the fact that he doesn’t use any sprays, not even the organic-certified ones. He only sun dries his herbs. His farm is certified kosher by Rabbi Svisa of the Rabbinical Council of the Ramat Hanegev Region.
Shlomo’s Products
Shlomo produces a wide range of products, from jams and compotes to fresh fruit and herbs. We were most taken by his fresh herbs and would like to continue to add more of Shlomo’s herbs to our shipments, specifically the desert specialty herbs he grows, such as maluach, sheba and zoota.
Nana
We provided a large pack of Shlomo’s Nana (mediterranean spearmint) to our first shipment in Decmber of 2009. We recommend using it in its purest form as tea. Use this also as a spice in tabouli or crumble a little mint on a cucumber salad or in a feta-tomato-onion salad.
